WLMG on Walton Bridge Road in Shepperton has been crowned Most Improved Business in the 2006 Motor Trader Magazine Industry Awards.

Known as the motor trade ‘Oscars’, the Motor Trader Awards are among the most prestigious in the industry, recognising top performing companies and rewarding the highest levels of professionalism in the retail motor trade. They also aim to highlight companies and individuals that look to the future and are constantly improving the way they do business. The Most Improved Business award is fiercely contested and widely regarded as one of the highest honours available to any motor dealership in the UK.

Since WLMG took over in August 2004, the Shepperton dealership has gone from strength to strength. A £300,000 refurbishment in 2005 brought the site in line with the latest Nissan showroom standards and the business has seen vast improvements in all departments. Customer satisfaction remains the number one priority for all staff, and recognition in these prestigious awards speaks volumes about the quality of service the dealership provides.

The panel of award judges looked for evidence of clear management-driven change over a maximum two-year period to 2005. Entrants had to display a coherent business strategy with measurable success criteria, plus profit, sales, market share and customer service statistics. WLMG was commended by the judges for being “a very soundly run and expanding business”.

The coveted award was presented to WLMG managing director Naeem Hanif by a representative of category sponsor NIG at a celebratory gala dinner. Naeem commented: “I’m delighted with our success in the awards. Whilst it’s obviously great news for our staff and the dealership, it also means our customers have added reassurance that they are dealing with a first-class team. Thanks and congratulations go all the staff for their relentless hard work and commitment to the business and our customers.”

Not only did the dealership win the Most Improved Business category, it was also highly commended in the Light Commercial Vehicle Dealer of the Year category, fighting off significant competition from a number of key players within the industry.
